A new Play Together screen, and a truer main menu clearing
- Play Together, rebuilt:
- Choosing a mode: two big cards, Host a party and Join a party, replace the small tabs. Who you're playing as sits at the top right, plus your Steam name when Steam is on.
- Hosting:
- The choices are rows of buttons rather than dropdowns: how friends reach you (Steam or Direct, when Steam is on), who can join, party size, friendly fire, and an optional password. The port only shows for direct parties.
- Beside the choices is your party as it will look in other players' lists, updated as you choose, and a three-step "what happens next" that matches the choices. Then Open my Sanctuary.
- Joining:
- One list of open parties: on Steam (friends first) and on your network. Each party is a card with its name, host, players as pips (2 of 4), and chips for In the Sanctuary or On expedition, Password, Friendly fire and Other version.
- The header counts the parties found, or shows that it's still looking.
- Have an invite code? has a Paste button. The port box appears only when you type an address.
- While connecting, the line says what's happening and there's a Cancel button. A punched join shows your own code for the host with Copy.
- The main menu's clearing, rebuilt from the game's own art:
- The fire: the real campfire (layered flames, sparks, smoke, breathing coals, its crackle) replaces the old cone fire, with a blackened pot on a tripod over it.
- The camp: a lean-to with a bedroll, a fallen log to sit on, stacked firewood, an axe in a stump, sacks, a barrel and crates.
- The graveyard: settled, leaning headstones over grassed-over mounds, behind a wrought-iron fence with stone gate posts, an open gate and a stretch fallen in.
- The woods: autumn oaks among the pines, fallen leaves under them, moss-grown boulders, dead grass in clumps, and the forest's glowing mushrooms casting a faint light.
- The view: far off in the haze, a ruined watchtower with one window still lit. Ground fog pools low (volumetric on High). The gap in the trees is kept clear, so the moon is never hidden.
