A spawn plinth, and a contract board you can actually use
The spawn plinth
- Somewhere to arrive: you come back to the Sanctuary standing on a waystone dais south of the fire, facing it. It's a round, two-tier stone plinth with a ring of cold blue runes let into its top, and four short posts at its corners holding witch-lights in iron bowls. The runes flare as you arrive and settle to a glow.
- Clear ground: nothing you can use is within reach of the plinth's top, so arriving no longer puts the contract board's prompt in your face. The board moved a few metres east of the fire to face the courtyard, a short walk away. A test checks every interactable in the keep stays out of reach of the plinth.
- Cheap: one shared merged stone mesh, one rune mesh (its own material so it can flare), four small flame cards, one shadowless light, and a single convex collider shaped like the dais, so you walk up and off it without stepping. It's also in the test room.
- Its own screen: all four traders' contracts side by side, one column each, with the trader's trust level and bar, and a strip across the top for your current contract.
- Act from the board: every card has its own button.
- Take it on sets it as your one tracked contract.
- Swap to this replaces your current contract, and asks twice if that would lose progress.
- Hand in settles fetch and deliver jobs you have the goods for, paying at once.
- Give up asks twice.
- Collect pays one trader's waiting rewards; Collect all shows when more than one trader owes you.
- Everything can still be done at the stalls too.
- Easier to read:
- Each card shows a glyph for what it wants (the material, the kind of item, a skull for hunts, crosshairs, a chest, stairs down), its kind (FETCH, HUNT, DELIVER, DELVE...), the title, one line on what's next for you ("You already have enough", "Would take: Iron Helm", "Banked each time you get out alive"), the reward, and a progress bar.
- Offers you could hand in the moment you take them light up gold.
- Finished contracts sink and say DONE.
- Hovering shows the trader's flavour line and the full terms underneath.
- The "!" over the board shows when anything is waiting: a reward to collect, or a contract ready to hand in.
- Performance: sixteen cards, four column heads and the strip are built once and re-filled in place using shared, cached styles; a refresh takes under 1 ms. Nothing runs per frame. The board no longer borrows the trader screen, which also dropped its read-only board mode.
- New test: checks the arrival, the reach, and every action on the board.
